Weeping Tile Services in Calgary

Weeping Tile Services Calgary

Weeping Tile is drainage pipe that is installed around the exterior of foundations.  The tile is designed to collect water that accumulates around the footings and carries it away to either a sump liner, a storm sewer or dry well.

The tile is made of high densitiy polyethylene resin and comes in a variety of sizes and types for differrent applications.

The building code in Alberta requires 4″ flexible tile for most residential applications.

Commercial application specifications are determined by the Building Code and/or engineering requirements and may require either 4″, 6″ or 8″ flexible or non-flexible tile depending on site conditions.  For areas with high sand content, we strongly recommend a tile with “filter cloth cover” to reduce build up of sand and silt inside the tile, over time.

Key Benefits

  • Provides a control for ground water
  • Allows a point of least resistance helping to relieve hydrostatic pressure
  • Helps to take water away from around the foundation
  • Provides point of least resistance under the basement floor
  • Connects the outside weeping tile system to a method of taking the water away

Interior Weeping Tile

Interior Weeping tile is used inside the basements to connect the outside weeping tile system to an approved method of getting the water away from the foundation. Typically, there are three methods to take the water away.  The first is the storm return and in most residential neighbourhoods the weeping tile connects to the storm system.  The second method is a sump liner and pump and the third method is a dry well or gravity drain.
